100 Percent Stacked Area Charts display the data that can be put in a table on a worksheet (the items should have two coordinates or parameters). A stacked chart means that all values of one category form a whole; when we’ve got a 100% stacked chart, it means that this chart displays the comparison of the percentage value each part of the category brings to the category. Real values are not displayed, chart shows only the percentage.
This 100% stacked area chart shows the revenue a company got from selling several products in several countries. Each series is colored differently. The legend is on; you can manage the chart view by clicking and hovering the legend items. When you hover a legend item, its series is highlighted; when you click on a legend item, series goes on/off, depending on the series’ state before clicking. As this chart type supposes taking all enabled series as 100%, when you turn off a series, the percentage will be recounted for those series left.
The categories (products names) and values in percent are placed along the horizontal X axis and vertical Y axis accordingly. The crosshair is on, it helps to watch the same categories’ values of different series, e.g. revenue came from all regions in a given month. Also, tooltip is enabled and shows all values together with a category name as a title.
